Visiting Hanscom Middle School
Visits by parents to their children's classroom are welcomed and encouraged. Such visits enhance communication and understanding between home and school. Parents can come to their children's class anytime during the school year provided the visit will not interfere with the instruction of children on a particular day. Parents should call the school office at least one day in advance to arrange a visit.
Because of the disruption to classroom routine, children not enrolled in the Lincoln Public Schools generally are not allowed to visit classrooms during the day while school is in session. The Principal may make an exception to this policy. A written request for such an exception should be made twenty-four hours in advance to the Principal's office.
Students and families that will be moving to Hanscom are welcome to visit the school prior to their arrival. Parents should contact the school office in advance to arrange for an appointment with the principal and a visit to the school.
Volunteering at Hanscom Middle School
Parents are encouraged to volunteer for classroom activities based on teacher request, field trips and other types of school events. In order to ensure that any persons providing volunteer services in the school with the potential for unsupervised contact with students are appropriate for serving in this role, a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check shall be performed. All adults who will volunteer in the classroom, school, or on field trips must fill out a CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information). Please come to the school office with proper identification (Driver's License, Military ID, Passport) and ask the secretary for the form.
