Dear Lincoln Public Schools Families,
For those of you who are returning families in Lincoln Public Schools, welcome back! And for those of you who are new to LPS, we are excited to have you join us!
I am looking forward to the start of the 2026-27 school year, and to have an opportunity to see students back in school soon. You have probably already received detailed information from your child’s school about the upcoming schedule, but I wanted to reiterate some important dates and events:
-
Kindergarten and Preschool visits on Friday, August 28th – Kindergarteners, Preschoolers, and their families will have an opportunity on the 28th to meet teachers and learn about the kindergarten and preschool programs. Times will vary by school.
-
Meet and greets on Friday, August 28th – Students in first through 8th grade will have an opportunity to stop by the school, see their classroom(s), and say hello to their teachers. Times will vary by school.
-
First day of school on Monday, August 31st – All students will begin school on the 31st, beginning at 8:00 AM for K-8 students (Please note that the Preschool start and end times may vary).
-
Wednesday, September 2nd – First early release day, with school ending K-8 at 12:35 (Please note that the Preschool start and end times may vary).
-
Friday, September 4th and Monday, September 7th – We do not have school on either Friday the 4th or Monday the 7th (Labor Day).
In addition to those dates and events, I wanted to highlight a couple other important pieces of information:
-
School calendar – The full school year calendar, along with start and end times, is available on our website.
-
Student and family handbook – The 2026-27 student and family handbook is available on our website. It includes helpful information about school rules and district policies, including information about how to respond if you have concerns that your child might be a target of bullying (and more specific information about bullying prevention and intervention is also on our website).
-
Bus routes and potential traffic delays for the Lincoln School – Bus routes for the Lincoln School will be available by the end of this week on the district website (please scroll to the bottom of the page for individual bus route information). The town of Lincoln is continuing to replace water mains on Lincoln and Bedford Roads, and this work is anticipated to continue into November. Road work will be delayed until after school arrival in the mornings, but could impact traffic in the afternoons. Please visit https://lincolnbigdig.com for the latest updates on the project.
I hope you are able to enjoy the final days of the summer break, and I look forward to seeing everyone soon!
Parry Graham
