Dear K-4 Caregivers,
The building has been abuzz about books! On Monday, our school librarian Mrs. B brought K-4 classes together for the Mock Ezra Jack Keats Award Ceremony. Students entered the auditorium to see Peter, from The Snowy Day, in his red snowsuit displayed on the big screen. Student presenters read a summary blurb of each of the nominated books and then everyone did a drumroll for the Silver Medal Winner, Big Enough by Regina Linke! Then, another drumroll for the Gold Medal Winner. As soon as it was announced, the auditorium erupted into cheers, clapping and jubilant “woo-hoo’s” for Elsa’s Chessboard! To make the event even more special, Mrs. B had contacted the author and illustrator to let them know the Lincoln School K-4 students chose their book for the 2026 EJK Gold Medal Award. and They each made a video especially for our students! Author Jenny Andrus thanked the students for their votes and shared how grateful she was that they loved her book. Julie Downey, illustrator, made her video on a mountain in Colorado! She thanked the students for “the honor and for being such great readers!” Thank you, Mrs. B. for creating this special experience for our school!
The excitement continues with our March Book Madness voting! Each class has been submitting a vote to narrow the field from the round of 16 to the quarter finals. We are down to the final four but not without some suspense and drama! The quarter-final competition between All at Once Upon a Time by Mara Rockliff, illustrated by Gladys Jose and La interprete by Olivia Abtahi, illustrated by Monica Arnaldo, translated by David Bowles resulted in a tie, but two classes hadn’t submitted their votes! When the final votes came in…it was still a tie! The fourth grade did an online spin-the-wheel and sent out the slides seen below. What a cliffhanger! We can’t wait to find out which book will be our March Book Madness champion!
A Note About the K-4 Yearbook:
Through the annual verification process caregivers complete the "Media Release" and "Permission to Publish Student Image and Work" forms. While a yearbook is technically not web or media publishing, we understand that some caregivers may want to opt out of having their child's image in the yearbook. Please reach out to Alechia Torchia, Yearbook Advisor, at atorchia@lincnet.org if you do not want your child’s photo to be in the yearbook.
Sincerely,
Sarah

Dear Lincoln School Composting Volunteers,
Thank you so much for your awesome support this school year! Since January, we have had six amazing volunteers helping out over multiple days. While this number is down from twenty unique volunteers from September-December, we still LOVE our volunteers and whether you joined us for one session or many, we truly appreciate YOU and your time.
As we look ahead to the end year, we are in dire need of volunteers and would be delighted to see you again– or to have you help spread the word about this important work we are doing in our school with others who might also be interested in volunteering.
If you'd like to spend time with your child as you volunteer, your child is welcome to join you at the compost table if they would like to pull up a chair and eat their lunch with you, don a pair of composting gloves, or use the coveted composting tongs!
Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or suggestions. Thank you again for your invaluable support!
Most sincerely,
Gwen Blumberg & Nicole McDonagh

We are so excited to announce that we’re partnering with Coffee Pond to create a K-4 yearbook! This special keepsake will be packed with student and class photos, and all those wonderful candid moments we’ve captured throughout the school year.
Before we place the order, we’d love to gauge your interest to help us determine the final cost. Because the price depends on the total quantity we order, the more families who participate, the lower the cost for everyone! Here is the breakdown:
Number of Yearbooks Ordered - Price Per Book
100 – 149 Books = $28.00
150 – 199 Books = $26.00
200+ Books = $24.00
Note: We want every student to be able to enjoy these memories—financial assistance is absolutely available.
The online order will be emailed out at the end of the month.

The Lincoln School Gear Store is open again! The store will be open from March 23-April 7. There are a few additions, including an Under Armor Hoodie and T-shirt with the combined K-4 Fox and 5-8 Knight logo!

This fall for the 17th year, Sudbury Flag Football League will be running an organized flag football
program in Sudbury. This is a non-contact contact version of football where young players can
develop their passing, catching and defending skills.
The SFFL Is for BOTH Boys & Girls. The games will be played by the Official National Flag Football rules.
Each player who is placed on a team will receive an NFL replica jersey with NFL team colors with
matching shorts and a flag belt and flags.
Registration for Sudbury Spring Flag Football League is open and we currently accepting applications for its 2026 Spring league for children who are currently grades K through 11.
Games will be played on Sundays. There will be 8 regular season games plus play-off games. The
majority of games will be played on the field turf.
If you are interested in having your child join the League, visit our website to register
We have a limited number of spots available. The first proposed date of the league is Sunday 4/12. The drop-dead date for registration is Friday 4/10.
Please do not wait till the last minute because once we hit capacity, we will NOT be able to add any new players. Unfortunately, last year we had to turn some players away.

MacLean Hospital is excited to share that their next webinar as part of our annual School Consultation Service “Leaders in Youth Mental Health Series” is coming up on March 18th, 12:00PM-1:00PM.
Here as well are the details for the upcoming webinar:
Topic: Childhood irritability
Title: Responding Skillfully in the Context of Childhood Irritability
Date: March 18th, 12:00PM-1:00PM
Learning Objectives:
Childhood irritability, which can range from developmentally normative to serious and concerning, can often be difficult for adults to manage effectively in the home and at school. Irritability is often paired with behavioral responses like aggression, arguing, withdrawal, and even high-risk behaviors. In this webinar, caregivers and educators will: 1) gain a stronger foundational understanding of childhood irritability, 2) learn practical and effective strategies for staying grounded, supportive, and still firm, and 3) become familiar with therapeutic interventions that may be used as referral options should children and their families need additional support.
