Dear K-4 Caregivers,

It has been a whirlwind of discovery and delight for our primary grades! From the fluffiest farm friends to the wonders of the prehistoric world, our students have been busy learning that the best classrooms often don’t have walls.

Our First Graders headed out to Davis Farmland for a day filled with sensory learning and pure joy. Students had the incredible opportunity to meet, pet, and learn about various farm animals.
Highlights of the day were undoubtedly the baby goats and kittens. Our students showed wonderful care while holding these tiny residents. To top off the day, the kids took to the bouncy houses, proving that first graders have nearly infinite kinetic energy!

Our Second Grade explorers pulled double duty these past few weeks, bridging the gap between natural history and living wildlife.

To extend their classroom exploration of fossils, students visited the Harvard Museum of Natural History. They stood jaw-to-jaw with prehistoric skeletons, examining the evidence of creatures that roamed the Earth millions of years ago. It was a fantastic way to see their science curriculum come to life.

The adventure continued at the Franklin Park Zoo, where the focus shifted from the past to the present. Students enjoyed one of the zoo's school programs and then visited the amazing animals.

We are incredibly proud to foster an environment where every student has the chance to explore the world around them. We would like to extend a huge thank you to the School Committee for supporting the budget to cover all field trips so they are free of cost to our families. This commitment ensures that every student, regardless of circumstances, can participate in these essential hands-on learning experiences.

We hope to see you at Community Meeting on Friday!

Sincerely,

Sarah

Kindergarten 2026-27

Dear Families,

We are excited to be preparing for the 2026-27 kindergarten classes and look forward to meeting our youngest students and their families!

GET TO KNOW US!
We have a Kindergarten Information video that introduces you to Lincoln School staff and provides information about learning and the school day. Please click here to view the 5-minute video and bring any questions you have to orientation on May 28th.

ORIENTATION - May 28, 2026 at 8:30 or 1:00
Rising kindergarteners and their parent(s)/caregiver(s) are invited to come to school on Thursday, May 28th during the school day for Kindergarten Orientation! We will meet in the Learning Commons and then walk the children to a kindergarten classroom where they will play, color, enjoy a read aloud and more. This teacher will be your child’s orientation day teacher but will not necessarily be your child’s teacher in the fall.

While the children are in the classrooms, parent(s)/caregiver(s) will attend a meeting with the building administrators and the literacy and math specialists. Parents/caregivers of students who did not attend the Lincoln Preschool will complete a home language survey with the EL teacher.

If you are not sure if your child will register, please do complete the form so you can recieve updates!

REGISTRATION
Children must have reached the age of five (5) before October 1, 2026 to enter Kindergarten. The Lincoln Public Schools also enroll employee children who have been approved by the School Committee and Boston resident students through the METCO Program.

Here is a link to the online New Student Registration
*Students attending LPS Lincoln Preschool are already registered and need only to complete this form.

You will fill out student and caregiver information, and upload documentation listed below.

  • Birth Certificate
  • Proof of Residency
  • Health and Medical Forms

*Students enrolled through the METCO program need to provide Health and Medical forms only. We have access to the other documents in Avela.

We look forward to welcoming your child and working with you to ensure that your child’s first school experience is a happy and successful one!

Fun Opportunity for Green Team Volunteers (and their kids!)

Dear Lincoln School Composting Volunteers,

Thank you so much for your awesome support this school year! Since January, we have had six amazing volunteers helping out over multiple days. While this number is down from twenty unique volunteers from September-December, we still LOVE our volunteers and whether you joined us for one session or many, we truly appreciate YOU and your time.

As we look ahead to the end year, we are in dire need of volunteers and would be delighted to see you again– or to have you help spread the word about this important work we are doing in our school with others who might also be interested in volunteering.

If you'd like to spend time with your child as you volunteer, your child is welcome to join you at the compost table if they would like to pull up a chair and eat their lunch with you, don a pair of composting gloves, or use the coveted composting tongs!

Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or suggestions. Thank you again for your invaluable support!

Most sincerely,

Gwen Blumberg & Nicole McDonagh
