Online Student Software Services
Teachers in the Lincoln Public Schools utilize several software services and web-based applications, operated not by the district but by third parties, in order to provide the most effective software tools and educational opportunities to students. All third-party software services that use individual student accounts are reviewed by the District for educational appropriateness, compliance with District policies, and appropriate protection of student privacy. A complete list of these third-party software services and which grades they are used at, including links to terms of service and privacy policies, is maintained below.
In order for students to use the third-party software services listed below, parents must sign and return the Student Use of Third-Party Software form located in the Student & Parent Handbook. If teachers identify additional services that they will use during the school year, they will obtain parental consent for those services during the school year.
The Lincoln Public Schools is a member of the Massachusetts Student Data Privacy Consortium. This organization brings together districts that put a high value on student privacy and builds collective strength when negotiating agreements with software vendors. It also gives us access to the consortium's legal expertise and analysis. The software list below includes software vetted and/or covered by data processing agreements reached both locally and through the consortium.

If you do not have internet access at home, there are several resources available in different communities for assistance with internet access. Availability will vary depending on where you live. In addition, you may be able to add wireless hotspot features to any cellular phone plans you have and many wireless providers are increasing bandwidth caps, or eliminating them altogether. Please contact your wireless carrier (Verizon, AT&T, etc.) for additional details.
- Comcast Xfinity Internet Essentials: Comcast Internet Essentials program offers low-cost internet connectivity to qualifying families. You may qualify if you are eligible for public assistance programs such as the National School Lunch Program, Housing Assistance, Medicaid, SNAP, SSI, and others. - Verizon Affordable Connectivity Program: Verizon offers discounts through the ACP program, including free service for eligible customers. Eligibility information and application details at: Affordable Connectivity Program
- RCN Internet First: RCN is offering 60 free days of their Internet First program (normally $9.95/mo+tax) to qualifying families based on income. Application is online at: Internet First
- Massachusetts Lifeline Program: State program to reduce or eliminate the cost of communication services for qualified households. Application is online at: Lifeline Services
- City of Boston’s Wicked Free WiFi: Free wireless in some outdoor areas of Boston which may provide coverage in adjacent buildings. The wireless SSID is WickedFreeWiFi. Wicked Free Wi-Fi
- In addition please check with internet providers with service in your area as companies are rapidly adding new free and low-cost services to support students and families
